Transformers Optimus Prime Artboards Desktop
Here is a wallpaper of Optimus Prime from the upcoming Transformers movie (due 4th of July 2007).
These appear to be concept art boards - and I've put them together adding a little of my touch.
I know a lot of people are waiting to see this - so hopefully you enjoy using this desktop wallpaper while waiting for the release of this movie.

For some reason, there are a lot of people who are very uptight about the appearance of these images, so please don't ask me where I got them from. If you look hard enough, you'll be able to find them yourself.
Enjoy!

Well, I think no matter what, the originals are the best as they're what we grew up with.
But this new prime looks quite KICK A#S!
Anyhow I'm really looking forward to this movie, and whatever fresh new designs they have! I am still a little wary of how some of the Decepticons look like though... especially Megatron... (looks like some alien insect terminator) :(

I seem to have been bombarded by traffic ever since this wallpaper went out :)
TFW2005 (http://www.tfw2005.com/) and Seibertron (http://seibertron.com/news/view.php)are among the ones talking about this - thanks for the acknowledgement.

as much as i like new things, OG Optimus Prime is the best, there is no way i will be staying the full length of the film if optimus prime remains in these concepts.
thank you

From an artist perspective Optimus looks awesome! I do have a bit of a prob with his face but, I'm pretty sure that will be cgi'd in later. I shall abide and not ask where you found this however, could you please tell me if you saw Starcream's Concept Art Board there?

Old Skool:
I think OG Prime is the best too, but I have a feeling they'll have some improvements to the real thing, afterall they are concepts. (i hope) This design does grown on you ;)
Orion:
Nah, unfortunately these were all there was. :(
I think everyone is just hanging to see how Starscream will look like! (Me included)

Why can't they jus have PRime be Prime from the original G1 cartoon? Why try to improve on something that's already perfect? I don't think I will be going to this movie or most of my friends if they ruin Prime like in the pic here. KEEP IT ORIGINAL GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

I think it looks great. But its not Prime. They have so many different Primes from the toy lines to pick from. Somebody in an office said, "We need something fresh and hip," and they forget about the fans. We're the reason they're making this moving. I'm not pleased

the face looks very much like an insect's, which i'm not finding too appealing. the body design is total bad ass, tho. as much as i like the old optimus, it's just not possible to make that design work in a movie. u can totally pick out what he looks like in "disguise." i won't cling on to the past for nostalgic and impractical reasons.
Posted by: the_hideous_fapper at September 10, 2006 11:26 AM
i think they made him look waaay to complicated...with transformers simple is better. i dont recognize prime...looks more like a big ass 3-CPO...(from star wars part 1 not 4)

I will admit these concepts look cool, BUT I am seeing way too much manga influence here! I want to be able to recognise who these characters are, not have to be told who everyone is! I do understand some of the practicals involved but still! what would have happen if they made the spider-man movies with peter parker as a black guy and wearing one of his "alternate" suits? I'll tell ya, it woulda bombed! so far all that is looking to be like Gen 1 is O.P.'s Voice! C'mon They have to realize what people really want to see not what they think transformers would look like if they were real? I have seen some VERY good home-made CG transformers on the web and they looked closer than any of these pics (I'm sure most everybody has seen the VW bug transformer clip!) anyways I don't make the movies so..... good luck

well I agree that g1 optimus is how we remember him the best, I also look upon change and the design of the new optimus as impresive and sleek, I agree with a preivious post which goes on about megatron being some sort of insect looking thing and i agree i am hughly dissapointed with megatrons design becaus there is not one once of g1 in him. No fusion cannon, nothing i ve also seen starscreams design as well and it looks like he might not even have hands just large guns to replace them, It s just some of the decepticons designs are poor. I am wary of these points but want to see the movie and give it a chance to see if it dose itself justice because you have to give everything a chance at least

Looks like the general impressions seem to be a little on the negative side for now - which is understandable I think.
I guess we are also forgetting to look at this from a Toy line perspective - as well as the possibility of a new cartoon.
Did they take this into consideration? In my opinion - possibly yes. :) New toys launched in conjunction with the movie might generate some crazy amount of money.
My 2c.

nice pic, lets hope that optimus prime doesnt look shity in the movie

I have to admit the new transformers look a little insect-like. Transformers G1 is the best and will always be the best. Mabeye it is time for a change but then again mabeye not!

I think original is best this looks strange stick to the good old origional optimus prime especially if they are using the same voice as the origional series ( perhaps they will show an event that led to primes evolution ) but i dont think this design does optimus justice only the original will do that
Posted by: asi at September 15, 2006 7:45 PM
hey, guys think of the fans who grew up watching the original. Think of the phrase K.I.S.S. .
Posted by: jeremy at September 17, 2006 9:45 AM
I can get used to the new Prime, with the exception of the head. Prime is not supposed to have a mouth. I agree that the original G1 is the best and that's what the characters should look like, but it is what it is. I must admit that Megatron looks horrible. What is he supposed to be. Does he transform into a wood chipper?? And Starscream looks like a bug. I hope it all works out. We've been waiting for this movie for 20 years

I speak spanish...

I like the new prime. I really like the original prime but honestly the best prime i've seen so far is the CG model of prime from Atari's Transformers game based on Armada. He looked awesome and hearing him quote the first movie was drool inducing. The new megatron reminds me of the megatron from Beast Machines(except i wouldn't want to give the new one a hug)... But remember that Transformers exists within infinite universes. The new prime has every right to exist as the others (except for The primal as a bat thing... he should die.)

I also grew up watching the Original Transformers and with that said, here is my 2 cents... I love the OG prime and all the Gen1 cast but I can forgive them for the alterations. In a warped and twisted way they make more sense this way. As for the bug-like appearance of the decepticons. I have to wonder if that wasn't an influence of the pre-transformer diaclone series, where the real enemies of earth were bug-like transforming alien robots and the defenders of earth were human piloted transforming vehicles. The transformers we all know and love were designed as earth vehicles that turned into robots not the other way around so in fact they never had alien forms. From a marketing POV I agree they are making a mistake but I am also eager to see how they pull off toy sales and if there will be any form of sequel or spin-off of the movie(cartoon or otherwise)..
Ok bring on the hate.. I can take it.

I won't ask where you found the concept art, but is there any chance your sources will be able to provide art for any more of the characters oon? I'm itching to see more!

Hi mattjy, I'm pretty itchy to see more too! :D
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
