Transformers - Bumblebee's Concept Boards

Just last month - I released a Bumblebee wallpaper with an arm cannon graphic with many thanks to AzoStealth. However, some have wondered if it was actually authentic or just another fan art piece.

Well - I have some big news now. A little bumblebee from one of the Transformers fan sites has sent me these boards with a request to release them as a desktop wallpaper. With his approval - I am proud to now bring these to you. I will also honour his request for him to remain anonymous. Many thanks to him.

Do remember that they are concept art boards for the movie.

These boards are of Bumblebee in both robot form and vehicle form as well as his weapons system. Actually now I am getting a little confused with the spelling of his name - is it Bumble Bee or Bumblebee? Do enlighten me.

This now confirms without any doubt (almost - I hope) that Bumblebee will be sporting an arm cannon. I'm not sure how accurate it is that he'll be having shoulder missiles though. It does seem a little errr... dare I say it, extreme.

Again - they are available in 2 sizes. Let me know if I should be making other sizes.

I really like these concept boards though. They are getting me even more pumped about the movie. Hopefully you guys like these wallpapers as well - staying on your desktop as a teaser to the upcoming movie.

Let me know what you guys think about it.

So for those interested in the visual direction Michael Bay is taking the Transformers in the upcoming live action film (set for release on July 4th, 2007), you might want to check out these concept boards for Bumblebee. Although they... [Read More]

Bumblebee should be all one word. ;)

As a side-note, I wish I shared your enthusiasm about the film. I look at these designs and just see uglyness.

Also, I'm not sure I dig the idea of making 'Bee such a hardcore warrior type. Beefy weapons systems seem kinda out of character for him - especially seeing the treatment Jazz gets in the script; a far more suitable candidate for a badass warrior, surely?

Unless of course they're just Jazz and Bumblebee in name only and should be taken as entirely new characters.

I think the layout and position sucks.. how about making the actual pictures of bumble bigger so we can actually see what he looks like.

bumblee is ugly enough with you having to add yellow bands all over the place,

Kym:
Yeah I always thought Bumblebee was one word till I saw these concept boards. I think if Bumblebee had such an arsenal - the others would probably pack something even more menacing. Especially the Decepticons!

mindchamber:
Dude, these concept boards are of the sizes I got them - so no I will not make them bigger :)

Personally I think both Bumblebee and Prime look ugly. They lack any personality in their appearance. I fear this movie will live up to the same quality as Michael Bay's other films: Crap.

hey, as long as they have a HUGE FREAKING arsenal, big guns, i'm happy! BLOW SOME S**T UP!

People are going to be completely happy
with the way things look. Always gotta
find something to complain about. No
Bumblebee doesn't look anything like the
original. He's suposed to be the VW Bug
but it's all about who's got money. I
say just enjoy it for what it's worth and
don't hang onto things like it's your god.
You'll only be disappointed a million times
over again.

Things change over time. I just hope they
don't turn it into something corny and kiddy.
I want to get goose bumps when I watch this
movie for the first time.

I DONT LIKE THE NEW TRANSFORMER LOOKS / MODELS / STYLE. THEY SHOULD STICK TO THE ORIGINAL G1 MODELS. BUT OFCOURSE IF THEY DID, THEY WOULD NOT MAKE MONEY OUT OF THE NEW TOYS, SO THAT'S WHATS THIS IS REALLY ALL ABOUT. BUT IF SO AT LEAST MAKE THEM COOL AND NOT LIKE NEW TERMINATORS....

Remember, these are not the Transformers we grew up with. These are Transformers for a new generation. Technology is quickly changing, and I for one think the new Transformers reflect that. I really excited to see what the new movie has to offer. Also, just because you don't like movies from a director, doesn't make them crap. Bay has won a few awards in his day, and I for one like his movies, those that I've seen anyway.

Oh, and I don't mean to nitpick about the shots of Bumblebee (or Bumble Bee, whichever you prefer) but the "later" Camaro isn't due out until 2009, not 2007.

Posted by: goattke at November 13, 2006 3:27 PM

I like C.'s thinking abt blowing some things up. And seeing some of the onset pictures so far - I think we will see a lot of things getting blown up!

goattke:
Yeah you're right about the later Camaro. I think the designer of these boards probably had it that way since they'll showcase the model next year as part of the movie. Probably a good marketing thing too for the car.

Bumblebee and all the others in this movie look crappy and starscream is the worst. but they could a least keep the vehichle modes right. for people who dont know, bumblebee's job was espionage or spying. as a little VW beetle it was easy. how can he do that as a big loud camero.
why not just break the off switch on prowl's siren and then have him try to spy on the decepticons.

Holy snits, dude's could you PLEASE just let go of the old Gen 1 series. Believe it or not, this movie is not made only for you. Despite popular belief the number of hard core fans of the original show is so minute even if they sold a ticket to every single one of you guys they still would'nt break even. The new film is meant to be a big summer blockbuster which means big explosions, a bit of hocky dialouge, and wicked visuals. And lets face it, classic transformers? Dude they look like a bunch of polygons and boxes stuck together, and for their time that was alright, but todays audience? Well they'd just laugh at it as much as they did the first teaser trailer.

Now to address the fear of it being too kiddy, well if the majority of the most vocal TF community got their way THATS EXACTLY WHAT IT WOULD BE!!! As it would be a direct adaption of a show made to sell cool toys. Which leads to my next topic, how is it you can even begin to critise Hasbro for changing designs just to sell toys. That was the entire purpose of "golden age" 80's series.

And on Bumble Bee's gun. It really isn't THAT hardcore, I think its appropriate that his main weapon would be just this little ting (size wise) that pops out of his arm, I mean his peers wield huge rifles, shoulder mounted canons, in comparison BB's got a mid sized gun. Now um the whole spy thing. Once again I think your taking the series too much into question, I mean its like a holy gospel to you guys... and quite frankly that is both annoying and sad.

And no I'm not trying to flame anyone here, I'm just trying to say what I've been thinking the last 6 months.

don't listen to these loosers, your taking the trasnformers to a realistic level, they're more alive than ever before

Im dissapointed that Bumblebee isnt a VW bug. He looks way to menacing for the weakest autobot. I read somewhere that they didnt want to confuse him for herbie the love bug. Do kids even know who herbie the love bug is? Hollywood is really screwing things up for the sake of the little ones. I envisioned some modifications but these are way too drastic for my preference.
Oh well. I will probably still enjoy the movie never the less.

Okay seriously, grow up dudes,
the old series was great, when i watched it as a kid, but the film I think is so much cooler.
They aren't cheesy or naff, crappy vehicles, they actually look good.
So what they don't look the same as the series.
They could NEVER look like the series!!!!!!!!

you wanted it to be a god damn beetle?? what the **** is up with you guys??
Tell me that a camaro looks like shit, then you MUST have some seriously lush cars to slag down that model.

They couldnt have made it better if they rtied,
and if you still think differently,
1 - i dont give a shit
and 2, lets see you do a better job with a camera
