They call themselves the best sushi train restaurant in Melbourne. The place boasts an impressive looking sushi train, and the selection of sushi available on the conveyor train is definitely one of the best you can find in Melbourne at the moment.

Located in the busy Melbourne Central shopping complex on Level 3, they are just a few shops away from the Hoyts cinema.

Their sushi is definitely not bad - I would recommend visiting this place during the normal meal hours to ensure you get the best selection while they are fresh.

First there was Eric on Friday night...

Then it was the rest of the gang from Swinburne university on Saturday night.

Well my flight back to Malaysia will be this coming Friday the 27th.

Unfortunately because I am moving my life back to Malaysia - the moving process is pretty crazy so I have to pack my desktop computer up by Tuesday in preparation to be shipped back.

Therefore, I have to apologise in advance for the upcoming lack of entry updates. I will try to get to a computer to continue writing some entries I have drafted up, but in the case I do not don't think I've forgotten about my dear blog, or worse think that I have disappeared for fear of going back. :)

Heheh.

Anyways thank you for your continued visits.

Oriental Bistro

Firstly no offense intended for my next statement.

For some strange reason, a number of my Aussie Australian friends (read Caucasians, westerners, etc) think Oriental Bistro is one excellent place to eat in Chinatown. An even more fascinating fact for me is that I have always seen more Westerners eating in Oriental Bistro in the past - which was why I have not tried it.

Therefore, I decided it was time I bit the bullet and gave it a try.

What is it about this place that fascinates my Aussie friends?

Oriental Bistro is located right at the corner of Exhibition St. and Little Bourke Street of Chinatown. Their address - 195 Exhibition Street and their phone number - 03 96639080.

One of their specials is this pork belly on rice.

Looks absolutely yummy - and Andrew who ordered this seemed to really enjoy this tonight.

Apologies for the lack of updates the last week.

As mentioned before I finished up work at my company SEEK last week. This week has been a full week of packing and getting many things sorted out in preparation for the move back home to Penang.

Going on holiday is one thing, being unemployed migrating overseas is another. Having called Melbourne home for the last 7 years you won't believe how much things you have to work out just to be able to make a move like that.

Anyways, here's a picture of my desk at work which I will not see any more.

My desk at work - going to miss my widescreen LCD

Watching Optimus Prime battle it out on the giant screen against good ol' Megatron in the Transformers movie has given me inspiration to make a new desktop.

Based on the dual display version that I made in the past with just Optimus and Megatron - I have made this new version using the high resolution versions of Optimus fighting with Megatron.

If you haven't noticed, Megatron is so much bulkier and bigger than the leader of the Autobots.

This time, I have made 3 sizes.

If you've been trying to get to my site the last few days, you would have been presented with the "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" message.

Ever since the Transformers movie was officially released last week, my site has been pummelled by people looking for Transformers movie wallpapers. My site chewed through 42Gb of traffic within 10 days.

Therefore, rather than wait until the end of the month and have the account reset, I have chosen to upgrade my hosting, migrating servers with my hosting provider to an account with more traffic bandwidth. Of course this has cost me some money - so please take some time to visit some of the sponsors on the Ads serving on this site. :)

Anyways - I just want to apologise for any inconvenience and for the long down time. It has taken a few days, well 5 days to be exact but I'm finally back up!

Thanks for your continual support and visits.

Snowy white Lake Mountain

Up until 9:30 pm on Friday night, I was really wondering if I should join Andrew, Suyi, Ben, Ade and HS to go up Lake Mountain on Saturday. Waking up at 7 am on a Saturday to go up to what may be uncomfortable weather (snow showers with moderate winds predicted) doesn't sound too tempting.

I have to say now though, that luckily - I decided to go. I have been up Lake Mountain a couple of times before on drives with Richard and Ed, but I have never been up there during winter.

The beautiful landscape around this mountain is so surreal and beautiful in winter. The snow and ice on the road side and on the trees on the way up make it one heck of a sight to take in.

Lake Mountain is a cross country ski resort, and is apparently the best in Victoria. Being one of the closest mountains to Melbourne, this is the place to be for family fun and to experience winter snow. It is also known for tobogganing - which kids (and everyone else) absolutely love.

Don't la dirty toilets?

Public Squat Toilet
Originally uploaded by adeleschultz.

Some people have asked me to tell them more about Malaysian toilets ever since I wrote my entry on my 6 weird habits. Coincidentally the good ol' New Straits Times today also carried an article titled "Dirty toilets get up tourists’ nose".

Great! So when the tourists start making noise, our wonderful government is shaken (a little bit) from their sleep. Tell us something new that we do not know already.

I think it is safe to say this is one of the facts of life that every Malaysian has practically grown up to accept as a fact of life.

Malaysians that have never stepped outside of the country all think that clean toilets only exist in 3 places.

1. Hotels
2. Airports
3. People's homes

Is that sad or what?

Anyways how bad are the toilets? "Definitely can't be that bad.........right?", some have asked.

So let me enlighten you all. I'm not back in Malaysia yet, so I am definitely not able to go around snapping some sample pictures for you to see. Therefore, I just did the next best thing - search on Flickr.

Cafe Corretto

Ferrari fans will know Cafe Corretto very well. This Italian restaurant on Lygon Street is the home of the Ferrari club here in Melbourne. With tonnes of Ferrari memorabilia decorating the interior of the restaurant, Ferrari fans will definitely appreciate dining here.

6 weird things about me

| 6 Comments | No TrackBacks

I forgot that my ChampionLoser friend Kungfuzaki - President of the Loser Club (heheh) had tagged me to write this in May. Revisiting his blog I have finally remembered so I'll finally write this up.

What's weird about me?

1. I have IBS. OK I admit it - I am one of those that have the infamous Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If you are asking "what the heck is that?", IBS is some condition that practically means my tummy will do a 'washing machine' maneuver when I am in a crazy rush, too excited or if I do not have my meals on time.

You might think it's all in my mind - but I can assure you, it is not. I hate it with my life. Once the 'Woopeedoo spin cycle' starts in the tummy, I have practically minutes to run. This condition has led me to number 2.

2. Whenever I plan a day out, or if I arrive at a new place - my mind only thinks of only one thing. Where are the nearest and cleanest public toilets? Believe me when living in Malaysia, this is one heck of a challenge in itself! If you haven't heard, majority of Malaysian public toilets suck arse (no pun intended).

There really isn't any point having a 'makcik' or some Bangla (I'm not trying to be racist but most of them are) fellow sitting out front collecting 20 cents for entry as they are normally not clean and do not have toilet paper supplied! Luckily the last 7 years of my life in Australia have been equatable to heavenly - as the public toilets here are clean.
