JB crime - My uncle a victim

JB - Hell hole of Malaysia

My uncle lives in JB. He works in Singapore and commutes between JB and Singapore almost daily to his workplace.

He is lying in hospital at the moment because on Friday night at around 10 pm, he finished work and as usual he travelled back to JB and he proceeded to collect his car which was parked at Komtar.

He was ambushed as he was approaching his car by four men - that were either Malay or Indonesian ethnicity. He was whacked up with several blows on his head, had his nose kicked in and broken and his fingers cut up as he defended himself from their ferociousness as they tried to drag him into the car along with them.

These four animals lay siege on one person with sticks and knives not fearing the consequences nor any repercussions - and they could have very much killed him as he is very badly injured now. He is still throwing up in hospital, and he has received a lot of stitches on his whole body.

They took all his belongings - money, identification, cards, passport and the family Toyota Avanza which by the way is the only car the family proudly owns.

One of my favourites - Yam Basket

Just thought I'd share one of my all time favourite dishes in Chinese restaurants here in Malaysia.

Yam Basket

This dish is generally known as the Yam Basket, simply because the deep friend yam is shaped like a bowl or basket containing the other ingredients.

Looks like pangolins are still headed for the soup pots. Just on The Star today (Tuesday September 18, 2007).

Five held for having pangolins

Tenom district police chief Deputy Supt Amru Kadir said the five, aged between 19 and 38, were ferrying the pangolins, which are commonly known as anteaters, in two cars along the Tenom-Sipitang road two days ago.

Me - back in Malaysia so far?

Just a short entry for a quick update all about me. Firstly - thanks to everyone who has been asking about how I have been ever since returning to Malaysia.

It's now been more than a month since moved back to Malaysia, to my home in Penang. I have been enjoying the break from work and the computer, while I slowly look for a new career path and job. I thank all my friends who has taken the initiative to help me in this regard.

While doing all this, I have been able to spend quite a lot of quality time with my family and my girlfriend. In the mean time I think I have also started to put on a bit of weight again - thanks to the reduced amount of fitness activities. Which is not good. :(

Either way, no real complaints as I don't think I have had much trouble adapting back to the lifestyle here (well I'm not working yet so maybe that's a harder part). Well hang on, there is ONE complaint.

[start rant]I have realised that for some reason - some Malaysians cannot resist smoking in shopping centres (which by the way is against the law)!!! There are some inconsiderate imbeciles who will simply light up and pretend nobody really sees them until you stare at them with the worst possible "You stupid moron" look, and they'll put it out... on the floor! And these are the fellows that you catch - and not the dumber and more disgusting d#*kheads smoking in the toilets.

Ok, maybe this smoking in toilets thing should be in a seperate entry but I just can't be bothered at this point.[end rant]

I would like to end this entry by leaving you with a picture of Cookie - which if you haven't realised is my male Maltepom (Maltese x Pomeranian) - and my aunt had thought it would be a funny thing to dress him up in a female doggy cheongsam outfit which belonged to my sister's dog.
