Policewomen - attitudes?

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

A small article in The Star today seems to be overlooked now that Election fever has officially kicked in.

It is titled: Policewomen ticked off for ‘misbehaviour’

KOTA BARU: Several policewomen were ticked off for colouring their hair unnaturally and being rude to the public.

Police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Abd Rahim Hanafi said he knew of such behaviour through letters and verbal complaints about female officers misbehaving and lacking in communicative skills.

SAC Rahim cited a case where a woman officer was asked to remove her headscarf during undercover duties. Her fellow officers were shocked to see that she had dyed her hair, which is prohibited under police regulations.

Other cases involved a policewoman behaving suspiciously with her boyfriend in a car at a district police barracks. Other complaints were about policewomen being rude, while one complainant said a policewoman had married a man thrice her age.

SAC Rahim said he was also disturbed by the attire, such as tight jeans, worn by some off-duty policewomen.

Anyone else feel like there's something very wrong with these complaints?

Yup it is election time!

When I woke up today, the Star newspaper front page reads Parliament won't be dissolved today (13/2) and goes on and on about how Pak Lah says it won't be today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi put an end to such speculation, telling reporters here yesterday: “Esok tak ada (No, it won’t be tomorrow)”.

Well he must have got up feeling lucky today as he has suddenly decided to announce the complete opposite today.

ELECTION TIME IS ON.

Parliament is now dissolved. Malaysia - you now have the opportunity to decide on what is going to happen, vote for the people who have been slowly destroying this country from the inside out or vote for the unknown - which can do no worse but may bring better good.

It's time to decide who's side you're on.

I know where I'm standing, and it's not with the jokers running the current joint.

My kindy years - such a blur

The world is such a small place. Now I recently caught up with Ying Lai, a friend from high school tuition years.

She really surprised me today when she sprang the news that we actually went to the same kindergarten as well! What's even whackier was that she had scans of the kindergarten pictures ready!!! How's that for some nostalgic shock for a Tuesday afternoon hey?

See if you can spot me in the picture. It really took me a while to even recognise myself.

Me in Tadika Sungai Nibong - my kindy years

What really amazes me though is how little I remember of my kindergarten years. For some reason that phase of my life really seems to be a blur - heck "it seems like I've got amnesia and I'm trying to go walk back down memory lane" as Ying Lai mentioned!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Just like to take the opportunity to wish all my readers Gong Xi Fa Cai and may this year be a prosperous and wonderful one for you and your family.

A lot of people forecast this year as a year of many challenges - but all I can say is this. No matter what challenges there are - we will get through it and there will be many blessings that come with any challenges and hurdles we have to cross.

So look forward to the positives and let us celebrate this Chinese New Year with our families and loved ones and not take anything for granted.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Awesome Blossom no more

I went to Chilli's today for the first time in many many months with Desmond and Joshua.

Now just before we were going there I was talking about how good the Awesome Blossom is - which is a beautiful deep fried onion strips creation that to me is one of Chilli's signature dishes.

Onion ring lovers like me will (probably) agree with me that this is indeed one of the most enjoyable variations of deep fried onions.

Now this was the very first thing that I planned to order today, and after a few rounds pouring through the menu in the Gurney Plaza branch in Penang, I was very puzzled as to why I couldn't find this on the menu.

We then decided to ask the waiter about this. To my very surprise the answer was this - "the awesome blossom has been taken off the menu".
